Beyton Green is a village in Suffolk, England. It is located 5 miles east of Bury St Edmunds and 8 miles west of Stowmarket. Beyton is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Begoton. Beyton is known for the geese on its village green. There has been much controversy over Beyton Parish Councils decision to rerelease geese on the village green. Of the 15 released by the council in 2014, only 9 still live on the green. One sadly died after being clipped by a car, feathers left on the green seem to indicate one other was taken by a predator and in 2015 one goose was confirmed to have died from Avian TB likely caught from wild birds. During 2015 two goslings were hatched by the geese. Sadly the mother rejected one of these and it disappeared overnight after a couple of days. The remaining gosling was very well protected by two adults at all times but also vanished with cause or explanation at a week old. Added to this, 3 adult geese have disappeared with no sign of accident, injury or predation. It is believed that these were all female.
